About Wild Edge Sculptures
The journey behind Wild Edge Sculptures has always been rooted in making
From apprentice mechanical engineer to design engineer and artist, Ian’s journey began at a deeply personal moment — when his grandfather passed away and left him a box of tools. Rather than allowing the toolbox to sit unused, Ian chose to honour its legacy by transforming those very tools into a commemorative horse head sculpture. That first piece marked the beginning of a creative path shaped by memory, craftsmanship, and purpose. This initial spark led to building robots and hand-crafted Transformer characters from scrap materials. What started as a creative hobby soon evolved into a deeper fascination with metal, form, and movement. Through experimentation and hands-on making, technical engineering skills began to merge naturally with artistic expression. As the work developed from raw scrap art into more refined sculptural pieces, it gained wider recognition, leading to an appearance on the Discovery Channel’s Scrap Kings.
Created from reclaimed materials. Inspired by nature. Built to last.
As the work developed from raw scrap art into more refined sculptural pieces, it gained wider recognition, leading to an appearance on the Discovery Channel’s Scrap Kings. This moment proved to be a turning point, validating the transition from experimental builds to recognised creative work and reinforcing the potential of sculpture as both art and craft. Over time, that passion matured into Wild Edge Sculptures — where reclaimed stainless steel and natural wood are transformed into fine art. Every piece carries the story of that evolution, from workshop experimentation to thoughtfully crafted sculpture, shaped by skill, curiosity, and a deep respect for materials.Based on the Dorset coast, Ian draws inspiration from the dramatic Jurassic landscape and the diverse wildlife found across sea, land, and air. The harsh coastal environment fostered a love of working with stainless steel, valued for its strength, longevity, and resistance to the elements. Knowing that the time, effort, and care invested in each sculpture gives it the potential to last a lifetime is central to the Wild Edge philosophy.Wild Edge Sculptures stands at the intersection of engineering precision and artistic freedom — creating work that is bold, enduring, and deeply connected to both nature and craft.
